Tubby's, a popular music venue in Kingston, has received a Music in Action grant from the Live Music Society, allowing it to launch a series of free concerts. The grant aims to support small venues and enhance community engagement. The highlight of this initiative is a seven-night anniversary celebration from September 22 through 28, featuring artists like Steve Gunn, Ted Leo, and Frankie Rose. All shows will be free and open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis, with no tickets required.

The venue, known for hosting a diverse range of acts, is using the grant to deepen its community impact. Tubby's has already started a monthly free concert series, with Colombian accordionist Yeison Landero performing in July and indie rock artist Ted Leo set to perform on September 6.

Hudson Valley One reports that Tubby's regularly hosts bands that typically play for larger audiences, making these free events a unique opportunity for local music lovers. The venue's dedication to supporting performances and fostering a vibrant music scene has earned it a loyal following.

With the new grant, Tubby's aims to continue its tradition of offering standout bookings and creating memorable experiences for its audience. The upcoming anniversary celebration and ongoing free concert series are set to attract both local residents and visitors, further establishing Tubby's as a key player in Kingston's cultural landscape.
