A former resident of Red Hook, Patricia Ruth Holt, 57, has been arrested in Hutchins, Texas, on charges of first-degree murder. Holt, who was involved in a notorious incident nearly 40 years ago at Red Hook High School, is now accused of shooting her boss, Carl Joseph Donaldson, in the head. The incident occurred on July 24 at the Hutchins Trucking Yard, where Holt worked as an over-the-road truck driver.

According to the Daily Freeman, Holt allegedly threatened others at the scene and led police on a slow-speed chase before barricading herself in her truck for nearly four hours. She eventually surrendered peacefully but had reportedly planned to either turn the gun on herself or provoke a "suicide by cop" scenario.

This arrest has brought back memories of a similar incident in September 1986 when Holt, then 18, attempted to shoot her high school English teacher after being removed from class for disruptive behavior. Armed with a shotgun, she was stopped by two teachers before she could carry out her plan. At the time, Holt was charged with attempted murder and other offenses but was deemed incompetent to stand trial. She later pleaded guilty to attempted assault and was sentenced to five years probation with psychiatric treatment.

Holt's recent actions in Texas have shocked those who remember the 1986 incident. She is currently being held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1 million bail.
