The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) has issued a travel advisory for Greene County, affecting motorists in the Hunter area. Starting today (August 11), the bridge carrying State Route 23 over Spruce Creek in Hunter will be closed to vehicles with more than two axles. This closure will remain in effect until Saturday evening (August 16) to facilitate necessary bridge repairs.
During this period, affected drivers are advised to follow posted detours. The detour route will direct large vehicle traffic to use State Routes 32, 23, and 296. While access for emergency vehicles will be maintained, all motorists should anticipate delays and plan for additional travel time.
According to Savvy Citizen, this measure is part of ongoing efforts to maintain and protect the infrastructure in the Town of Hunter. The public is encouraged to cooperate and share this information with those who may be impacted. For the latest travel updates, visit 511NY.org, call 511, or download the free 511NY mobile app.
