Police Identify Victim in Wappinger Car-Pedestrian Accident

State Police have identified the victim of a fatal car-pedestrian accident that occurred at the intersection of Schnabl Court and Myers Corners Road in the Town of Wappinger. The pedestrian, Li Jin Huang of Wappingers Falls, was struck and killed by a vehicle on Tuesday (August 12).

According to police reports, 85-year-old Barbara Griffin of Poughkeepsie was driving a 2016 Toyota Rav4 westbound on Myers Corners Road at approximately 8:50 a.m. At the same time, Huang was walking westbound in the eastbound lane. As Griffin approached the intersection, Huang abruptly crossed the road in a northerly direction and was hit by the vehicle. Tragically, Huang was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident has prompted an investigation to understand the circumstances leading to the accident. Police have not yet released further details regarding any charges or citations related to the incident.
