In Saugerties, residents are eagerly awaiting the installation of a new slide at Bigelow Park. Town officials have requested police assistance to investigate the delay caused by the firm responsible for the installation. The slide, purchased from Miracle Recreation for $5,007.27, was delivered two years ago, but remains unused due to installation issues.
According to Parks Superintendent Greg Chorvas, the town relies on certified installers to mitigate liability risks. The installation was initially assigned to Pettinelli & Associates, but the company has been unresponsive. "We started to get the run around," Chorvas said, "and then, all of a sudden, it was like they dropped off the face of the earth."
The town had prepared the site for installation, but after failing to reach company representatives, the matter was handed back to the police. The original supplier was unaware of the installation issues until contacted by authorities. Now, a third party is expected to complete the installation.
