SUNY New Paltz has introduced a new online cannabis workshop designed for dispensary owners, retail professionals, and operators. The program aims to equip participants with essential skills for managing compliant cannabis businesses in New York's expanding adult-use cannabis industry. The workshop offers training on compliance with state regulations, taxes, workforce development, and supply chain optimization.
Developed in collaboration with industry leaders and legal and financial experts, the workshop is self-paced and can be completed in about three hours. Participants will learn about BioTrack/METRC tracking, regulatory frameworks, and best practices for hiring and training dispensary staff. The course costs $250 and is available to anyone aged 21 and older, with no prior experience required.
Lori Krzeminski, the program lead at SUNY New Paltz, said, "We’ve created an accessible, affordable way to gain the foundational knowledge needed to build and scale a compliant and sustainable cannabis business." Participants will retain access to the course for up to six months and receive a Credly accreditation upon completion.
