Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire that damaged multiple buildings in Hudson over the weekend. The fire broke out at the Wunderbar Bistro on Warren Street on Saturday (August 23), and quickly spread to two nearby buildings. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the roof and flames in the kitchen of the bistro, located at 744 Warren Street.

The fire caused significant damage to the Wunderbar Bistro, with a partial collapse of the second-floor roof reported. The neighboring building at 742 Warren Street also suffered heavy fire, smoke, and water damage, while 746 Warren Street experienced minor damage. A cat was rescued from one of the buildings and treated for smoke inhalation.

Hudson Mayor Kamal Johnson praised the efforts of the fire departments, stating, "This morning’s fire was one of the worst I’ve personally witnessed, and the bravery and dedication shown by everyone on the scene is something I truly respect." Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the responders or the public.

The Hudson Fire Department received support from at least ten other fire and emergency departments, including the Claverack Fire District and the Athens Volunteer Fire Department. The investigation into the fire's cause is ongoing, and officials are working to determine how it started.
