The Hudson Valley will soon welcome the unique spectacle of Floatsam's floating circus, a troupe of musicians, puppeteers, and circus performers traveling on a raft. The circus will perform in Saugerties on Tuesday (September 2) at Tina Chorvas Waterfront Park and in Kingston on Wednesday (September 3) at Kingston Point Beach, both at 6:30 p.m. The performances are part of Floatsam's tour along the Erie Canal and Hudson River, celebrating the 200th anniversary of the Erie Canal's opening.
Floatsam's mission is to bring magic and whimsy to waterfront communities while encouraging engagement with local waterways. All shows are free and suitable for all ages. The troupe will also perform in Poughkeepsie at Kaal Rock Park on Thursday (September 4) at 6 p.m. According to their website, Floatsam is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that relies on donations to continue its journey.
The circus has already performed in various towns from Buffalo to New York City, and their tour will continue to other locations, including Beacon and New York City, in the following weeks.
