The Columbia-Greene Humane Society (CGHS) in Hudson, New York, is hosting a free pet adoption day on Saturday (August 30). This marks the second free adoption event this month, made possible with support from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). Adoption fees will be waived for all animals, which will be spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations.
Despite the waived fees, the standard adoption screening process will remain in place to ensure that each pet finds a suitable home. According to NEWS10, CGHS emphasizes that these free adoption days are life-changing opportunities for pets to find their forever homes.
The humane society, which does not euthanize animals due to space constraints, relies heavily on community support and donations, as it does not receive federal, state, or county funding. For those interested in adopting, a list of available pets can be viewed on the CGHS website.
This initiative is part of CGHS's ongoing efforts to promote animal welfare and provide second chances for shelter pets. For more information, individuals can contact the humane society at (518) 828-6044.
