Middletown police have arrested a 16-year-old suspect in connection with a targeted shooting at the 6 West Barbershop in Middletown. The incident occurred last Wednesday (September 3) when the suspect allegedly entered the barbershop wearing black attire and a camouflage balaclava and shot a 17-year-old employee three times in the back. The victim, identified by the barbershop owner as Nasir Andrades, was taken to Garnet Health Medical Center and is in stable condition.

According to Times Union, the suspect fled the scene on an electric scooter. Middletown police, with assistance from the NYPD and the FBI’s Hudson Valley Safe Streets Task Force, tracked down the suspect in New York City over the weekend. The teen was arraigned on charges of second-degree attempted murder and is being held at the Orange County Jail.

The Mid-Hudson News reports that authorities believe the shooting was targeted, as no other individuals in the barbershop were harmed. The suspect, whose identity is protected due to his age, is being held on a $200,000 cash bail, a $400,000 partially secured bond, or an $800,000 full bond.

Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Middletown Police Department’s Detective Division. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Nicholas Mangold.
