Town of Newburgh Woman Struck, Killed by Train

A 45-year-old woman from the Town of Newburgh was killed on Thursday (September 11) when she was struck by a CSX freight train on Oak Street. According to Newburgh Town Police Chief Bruce Campbell, the train engineer reported that the woman jumped in front of the southbound train at approximately 1 p.m. The victim's name has not been released, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mid-Hudson News reported the incident, noting that the community is deeply affected by the tragic event. The circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation, and authorities have not yet provided further details about the victim or the reasons behind her actions.
