Poughkeepsie Police Probe Main Street Shooting

Police in Poughkeepsie are investigating a shooting that occurred on Sunday night (September 14) near the Fireside Restaurant on Main Street. Officers detained four men believed to be involved in the incident. A bullet struck the window of an apartment above the restaurant, prompting the fire department to ensure no one inside was injured.

The police received reports of shots being fired at approximately 9:45 p.m. Witnesses described seeing four suspects fleeing on foot near the westbound arterial. By 9:58 p.m., officers had detained the suspects near the Family Partnership on North Hamilton Street. Shell casings were found at the scene, and video evidence showed the suspects exiting a building on Main Street and shooting across the street at two individuals who fled the area.

Authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the incident to contact the City of Poughkeepsie Police confidential tip line at 845-451-7577. The investigation is ongoing, and police are working to determine the motive behind the shooting and the identities of the individuals involved.
