Kingston police have arrested a 19-year-old suspect in connection with a stabbing incident that occurred on Saturday, September 14, near Liberty Street between Broadway and Prospect Street. The victim, an 18-year-old man, suffered a deep wound to his thigh but survived the attack.

According to Deputy Chief Richard Negron, the suspect was taken into custody at police headquarters on Friday (October 10) and charged with felony assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and criminal possession of a weapon. The suspect was released after being issued tickets for Kingston City Court. As reported by Daily Freeman, police initially believed two suspects were involved, but later determined there was only one offender.

The victim received initial treatment at the scene and was transported to HealthAlliance Hospital's emergency department, where he was later released. The stabbing is considered a targeted act, and the Town of Ulster Police Department is assisting Kingston Police with the ongoing investigation. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact Detective Adam Hotaling at the Kingston Police Department.

The area around Liberty Street has experienced a recent surge in violence, including other knife attacks and increased police activity, according to Hudson Valley One. The investigation remains active as police continue to seek more information about the incident.
