A man from Dutchess County is facing serious charges after allegedly threatening the life of a member of Congress. On Saturday (October 18), the New York State Police, in collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation Joint Terrorism Task Force (FBI-JTTF), arrested 34-year-old Christopher Moynihan from the Town of Clinton. He has been charged with making a terroristic threat, a Class D felony.

The FBI-JTTF notified state police about Moynihan's threats, prompting a thorough investigation that led to his arrest. Moynihan was arraigned before the Town of Clinton Court and is currently held at the Dutchess County Justice and Transition Center. He remains in custody in lieu of $10,000 cash bail, a $30,000 bond, or an $80,000 partially secured bond.

Authorities have not disclosed the identity of the Congress member who was allegedly threatened. Moynihan is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday (October 23).

According to the New York State Police, the arrest was part of a multi-agency effort to address threats against public officials. The case underscores the ongoing collaboration between state and federal agencies to ensure the safety of government representatives.
