In Germantown, a loud noise from a student stomping on a milk carton in the boys' bathroom led to reports of shots fired on Monday (October 20). The noise prompted two separate 911 calls, causing the Germantown Central School District to initiate an immediate lockdown as a precautionary measure. Law enforcement quickly responded to the scene and thoroughly investigated the situation. They determined that there was no threat to students, staff, or faculty, and subsequently cleared all classrooms.

The incident occurred around 12:45 p.m., and the school district later confirmed the source of the noise through a statement on its website. According to the Daily Gazette, the school did not specify the exact location of the bathroom within the building, which houses both the elementary and junior/senior high schools.

There was a delay in notifying parents about the lockdown due to the school's messaging app being offline, as reported by WNYT. The school district has not yet announced if the student responsible for the noise will face any disciplinary action.

This incident highlights the importance of swift communication and response in ensuring the safety and security of students and staff in emergency situations. The Germantown Central School District remains committed to providing a safe learning environment for all its students.
