Today marks six years since the unsolved murder of Daniel Thomas in Kingston. On October 24, 2019, Thomas, 37, was shot in the face near the intersection of Cedar Street and Prospect Street. He was taken to a nearby hospital but was later pronounced dead. Despite ongoing investigations, no arrests have been made in connection with his murder.
The Kingston Police Department, with assistance from the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office and town of Ulster police, has been working to solve the case. However, neither the police nor the district attorney's office has disclosed any significant roadblocks in the investigation. According to Daily Freeman, Kingston experienced a spike in homicides during late 2019 and early 2020, with Thomas's murder being one of three unsolved cases from that period.
The community remains hopeful for a resolution. Kingston Police Chief Egidio Tinti previously stated that detectives are actively working on leads and tips related to the case. The police department continues to encourage anyone with information to come forward. Individuals can contact the Kingston Police Department at (845) 331-1671 or submit anonymous tips through the Submit A Tip app available on the department's Facebook page.
