The New York State Bridge Authority is addressing a billing issue that affected around 8,000 E-ZPass customers enrolled in the commuter plan. This plan, which offers a reduced toll of $1.40 per trip for frequent users of the authority's five bridges over the Hudson River, requires at least 17 trips within a 30-day billing cycle. Any unused trips are also billed at $1.40 as "Unused Commuter Trips."

The billing error occurred on October 9 and 10, and was caused by an outside vendor. The bridge authority is working with the E-ZPass NY Customer Service Center to resolve the issue and has directed that refunds be issued to affected accounts. Customers who continue to experience problems are encouraged to contact the customer service center at 800-333-TOLL (800-333-8655).

To prevent future issues, the bridge authority reminds participants that they can pause their commuter plan up to four times a year for a minimum of one week if they do not anticipate making frequent trips. More information and account access can be found at e-zpassny.com.
