The Hudson City Council is taking steps to simplify property tax repayments for residents. Starting January 15, the council will implement a new payment plan for households that are behind on their taxes. The plan lowers the threshold to start a payment plan from 25 percent to 10 percent of the owed amount.

This initiative aims to provide relief to the hundreds of households in Hudson struggling with late tax payments. The special amendment will be in effect for one year, offering a temporary solution to ease financial burdens.

Mayor Kamal Johnson has expressed his support for the initiative and plans to sign off on it. The council's decision reflects a commitment to assist residents in managing their financial obligations more effectively.
