Two residents of Kerhonkson, Jessica Countryman, 47, and Brian Coyne, 45, have been charged with multiple offenses following a burglary incident on October 26. According to the New York State Police, the duo was involved in a break-in at a residence on Porth Road, Kerhonkson. The police responded to a burglary in progress at approximately 4:21 p.m. and issued a "Be On the Lookout" alert for the suspects and their vehicle, a Ford truck.
Shortly after, officers located Countryman and Coyne at a nearby business. When troopers attempted to stop them on Route 209, the suspects fled, leading to a chase that ended with the deployment of spike strips on Watson Hollow Road in the Town of Olive. Both suspects were arrested and charged with several offenses.
Coyne faces charges including five counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the seventh degree, unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, operating a vehicle with a suspended registration, and reckless driving. He was also charged with burglary in the third degree and possession of burglar's tools, a felony. Countryman was charged with five counts of drug possession and felony burglary.
Following their arrest, both suspects were taken to the State Police Ellenville barracks for processing and later transported to Ulster County Jail Central Arraignment Part. They were arraigned and released pending future court appearances scheduled for October 31 in Rochester Town Court. The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to gather evidence related to the case.
