Rhinebeck Nursing Home Worker Charged with Assault

Women criminal in handcuffs arrested for crimes

A 75-year-old employee of Ferncliff Nursing Home in Rhinebeck has been charged with assaulting a resident. According to police, Janice Germano, a resident of Tivoli, allegedly struck the victim in the face on Halloween night (October 31). Germano is charged with the felony of endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person.

The incident was reported to the police, who responded to the nursing home located at 21 Ferncliff Drive. Following an investigation, Germano was arrested on November 5. She was subsequently released with an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Rhinebeck Town Court on Wednesday (November 12) at 5:00 p.m.

Ferncliff Nursing Home is operated by ArchCare of the Archdiocese of New York. The facility emphasizes compassion and healing, as stated on their website. The nursing home has not yet released a statement regarding the incident.

Germano's case is expected to proceed in court later this week, where further details may emerge.
