Drivers in the Mid-Hudson Valley are experiencing a rise in gas prices, with Ulster, Dutchess, and Greene counties seeing increases at the pump. According to GasBuddy, Ulster County's average price per gallon rose by 4.5 cents to $3.037, while Dutchess County saw a smaller increase of 2.6 cents, bringing the average to $3.131. Greene County experienced the most significant jump, with prices rising by 6.7 cents to $3.109. In contrast, Columbia County's prices remained stable, decreasing slightly by 0.2 cents to $3.07.

New York's statewide average gas price increased by 1.6 cents to $3.09, which is slightly higher than last month but still lower than last year. Nationally, the average price of gasoline rose by 4.8 cents to $3.03. Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, explained that refinery issues in the Great Lakes and West Coast have kept prices elevated. He also noted that gasoline inventory data showed a significant drop in supplies, temporarily propping up prices. De Haan mentioned that ongoing refinery challenges and a new issue at a California refinery could impact future gas prices.

As the holiday season approaches, drivers in the Mid-Hudson Valley and beyond should be prepared for potential fluctuations in gas prices.
