Price Chopper/Market 32 is hosting a Double Exchange Day this Sunday (November 16) from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at all store locations. During this event, customers can exchange their pennies for gift cards worth double the amount. For example, $10 in pennies can be exchanged for a $20 gift card, which can be used for future in-store purchases.
To participate, customers need to bring their rolled or loose pennies to the Customer Service Desk, where the total will be counted and matched with a gift card reward on the spot. Exchanges must be a minimum of 50 cents, earning a $1 gift card, and cannot exceed $100, earning a $200 gift card.
According to Price Chopper, this initiative comes as the U.S. Treasury plans to discontinue penny production in 2026, leading to a shrinking penny supply. The supermarket chain aims to ensure smooth cash transactions and help families facing financial hardships.
News10 reports that the event coincides with the kickoff of the grocer’s Holiday AdvantEdge Rewards Doubler, a program designed to help shoppers stretch their budgets during the holiday season.
