The City of Kingston is providing free two-hour parking at meters and municipal lots starting Friday (December 5) through January 1, 2026. Mayor Steve Noble announced this initiative to support local businesses during the holiday season. "By offering free two-hour parking across the City, we are encouraging everyone to shop local and support all of our small businesses here in Kingston," Mayor Noble stated.

While parking is free for up to two hours, the city will continue to enforce safety violations such as blocking fire hydrants, parking in handicap spots, double parking, and expired inspection stickers. Vehicle owners must adhere to all traffic and parking rules and park legally. Regular parking enforcement will resume on January 2, 2026.

The Daily Freeman reports that this initiative coincides with the Snowflake Festival, encouraging residents and visitors to explore Kingston’s unique stores and restaurants. The 2026 parking permits for municipal lots are available for purchase and renewal, electronically linked to license plates. More information on parking permits can be found on the city's website.
