The Hudson Valley is bracing for a wet and windy day as heavy rain and strong winds are expected to sweep through the region on Friday (December 19). According to NEWS10 ABC, a cold front will bring a surge of mild air, followed by temperatures dropping into the low to mid-40s by the afternoon.
Wind advisories are in effect across the region, with gusts reaching up to 50 miles per hour. Portions of Rensselaer, Columbia, Berkshire, and Bennington counties are under a high wind warning, with gusts potentially hitting 60 miles per hour. The wind is expected to continue throughout the day, tapering off by Saturday morning.
Rainfall will be heaviest in the morning, with a half-inch to an inch expected, and higher amounts possible in the eastern Catskills. There is also a chance of thunder as the rain moves in. As temperatures drop, areas like the Adirondacks may see a changeover to wet snow by midday.
