The Mountain Jam music festival will not take place in 2026, according to an announcement by founder Gary Chetkof. The festival, which made a comeback in 2025 after a six-year hiatus, plans to return in 2027. Chetkof shared the news on social media, expressing gratitude for the support in 2025 and stating, "Mountain Jam 2025 was truly special — thank you to everyone who came out and made it unforgettable." The festival, which began in 2005 as a one-day event at Hunter Mountain, has grown into a multi-day celebration of jam bands and musical exploration.
After its initial years at Hunter Mountain, the festival moved to Bethel Woods Center for the Arts in Sullivan County. In 2025, it was held at Belleayre Mountain in Highmount, marking its 20th anniversary with performances by Khruangbin, Mt. Joy, and Goose. The event is known for its community-focused atmosphere and adventurous spirit.
Jambands.com reported that the decision to pause in 2026 allows organizers to plan for a stronger return. As the festival has become a beloved event in the Northeast, fans are hopeful for its successful return in 2027.
