The Ulster County District Attorney's Office remains silent on an investigation into the Saugerties Central School District's handling of sexual assault allegations. The investigation focuses on how the district managed allegations involving former coach Reid Keppler and former part-time Saugerties police officer Sydney Mills. Both have pleaded not guilty to multiple charges.

Keppler, a former wrestling coach, was indicted on 18 counts of felony rape for allegedly engaging in sexual conduct with two students he coached. Mills faces charges including third-degree rape and sexual abuse. Both are being held without bail, Keppler in Ulster County Jail and Mills in Greene County Jail, as reported by the Daily Freeman.

Former superintendent Daniel Erceg resigned earlier this month after being placed on administrative leave during the investigation. The school district completed its internal investigation, identifying areas for improvement but has yet to release detailed findings. The district plans to make policy and process changes to improve human resource operations, according to Times Union.

Ulster County DA Emmanuel Nneji has highlighted a "cover-up" culture within the district, citing reports from residents about past abuses that went unaddressed. He emphasized the importance of mandatory reporting and the commitment to student safety. Acting Superintendent Gwendolyn Roraback is now leading the district while a search for Erceg's replacement is underway.
