Flu cases in the Hudson Valley are rising sharply, with Westchester County reporting the highest number of infections. For the week ending December 13, Westchester recorded 3,845 cases, followed by Orange County with 1,109, and Rockland County with 1,099. Statewide, over 113,000 confirmed flu cases have been reported since the season began in October.

The New York State Department of Health has declared influenza prevalent, urging residents to get vaccinated. Dr. James McDonald, the State Health Commissioner, emphasized the importance of vaccination, noting, "We expect a more severe flu season due to circulating strains of the virus compared to last year." The flu vaccine is available at pharmacies and doctor's offices, providing the best defense against infection.

The flu is widespread across New York State, with Influenza A being the predominant strain.

Emergency One Urgent Care offers flu shots, rapid testing, and evaluations without appointments, as noted by Emergency One. Residents experiencing symptoms like fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, or fatigue are encouraged to seek medical attention.
