Residents of Lloyd are under a boil water advisory due to a water main break on Vineyard Avenue. Officials announced the advisory on Sunday (December 28), urging residents to boil their water for at least one minute before using it for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth. The advisory is expected to remain in place until Friday (January 2) as crews work to repair the break.

The town's Facebook post warned that harmful microbes might be present in the water, potentially causing diarrhea, cramps, nausea, headaches, or other symptoms. Those with compromised immune systems, infants, and some elderly individuals are at greater risk.

According to the Daily Freeman, residents are advised to use boiled or bottled water for all consumption needs. The Highland Fire District Station 2 is providing non-drinking water from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. daily.

The Town of Lloyd's website states that the water main break has been repaired, and water pressure will resume as the tanks fill. However, the boil water notice remains in effect until further notice.

For more information, residents can contact the town at (845) 691-2400 or the Ulster County Department of Health at (845) 340-3552.
