The construction of the new Greene County Justice Center in Catskill is progressing well and is expected to be completed by March. Initially started in February 2024, the project faced some unexpected delays but remains on track for completion in a couple of months. The new facility will house the offices of the Greene County District Attorney and Public Defenders, as well as the New York State Office of Court Administration.
The building, located behind the County Courthouse on the site of the former Jail Complex, will feature a three-story design. It includes an elevated pedestrian walkway connecting it to the Courthouse and a secure parking garage on the ground floor. The second and third floors will serve as Class A professional office spaces.
The project, which began with a Request for Qualifications for Architectural and Engineering Services released by the Greene County Legislature in December 2021, is currently more than one million dollars under budget. A move-in date for staff is anticipated for mid-to-late April, following the completion of construction.
