New parking enforcement rules in Hudson, New York, will take effect on January 16, introducing a kiosk and app-based payment system. This change replaces the city's traditional coin-operated meters, expanding paid parking from Front Street to Prospect Avenue and Worth Avenue. The parking rates remain at 50 cents per hour on streets and 75 cents per hour in municipal lots.

According to the Daily Gazette, the city delayed enforcement due to unforeseen production delays for signage. Signs explaining the new payment methods will be installed by January 9. During the initial phase, the Hudson Police Department will issue warnings to help residents adjust to the new system before actual ticketing begins.

The new system includes various payment options, such as QR code scanning, the ParkMobile app, text-to-pay, and kiosks. Drivers can pay with coins or a credit/debit card at six kiosks located throughout the city. However, using the QR code and text options will incur a 39-cent convenience fee per transaction, while ParkMobile charges a 60-cent fee. To avoid multiple fees, drivers will be allowed to select parking slots longer than two hours.

The Hudson Parking Bureau emphasizes timely payments to avoid penalties, such as fines doubling and additional surcharges. Residents and visitors are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the new system to ensure a smooth transition.
