The investigation into a road rage shooting involving off-duty Kingston Police Officer Anthony Simon is ongoing. The incident occurred on December 11 (Thursday) in Wawayanda. Simon, 33, shot Wallace F. Fisher, 31, during a confrontation on Dolsontown Road. According to New York State Police, the road rage incident involved Fisher's 2020 Volkswagen and Simon's 2021 Toyota pickup truck and spanned approximately one mile.

The situation escalated when Fisher exited his vehicle and approached Simon, leading to a verbal altercation that turned physical. Fisher allegedly brandished a knife, prompting Simon to discharge his firearm, striking Fisher. Fisher was initially taken to Garnet Health Medical Center and later transferred to Westchester Medical Center, where he remains in critical but stable condition.

Officer Simon, who did not use his service weapon, has been placed on administrative duty pending the investigation by the state police and the Orange County District Attorney's Office. As of now, no charges have been filed against him. Deputy Chief of Police Richard Negron stated that Simon will remain reassigned until the investigation concludes.

Eyewitness Rob Parker captured cellphone video of the incident and reported seeing the vehicles swerving and cutting each other off before the confrontation. Parker told ABC7, "The boy swing, he punched him and immediately three shots went off." Authorities continue to review video footage and interview witnesses. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the State Police Middletown at 845-344-5300.
