Hudson Valley Congressman Pat Ryan expressed confidence that a war powers resolution will pass in the House of Representatives. The resolution aims to limit President Trump's ability to conduct further military operations in Venezuela. Ryan, a Democrat representing New York's 18th District and an Iraq War veteran, believes trust has been fundamentally broken by the current administration. The measure already passed in the United States Senate last week.

According to Congressman Jason Crow, who introduced the resolution, the goal is to rein in unauthorized military actions. Crow emphasized that Americans are tired of endless wars and stressed the importance of Congress reclaiming its authority over military decisions.

In a press conference, veteran Democratic House members echoed these sentiments, warning against repeating past mistakes in foreign interventions. They criticized President Trump's actions in Venezuela, which included arresting the country's president without Congressional approval.

The Trump administration and congressional Republicans defend the military action as necessary for American security. However, Democrats argue that the focus should be on domestic issues like healthcare and infrastructure. The House is expected to vote on the resolution soon, with Ryan optimistic about its passage.
