Central Hudson Gas and Electric Corporation has announced a new initiative called the Enhanced Energy Affordability Program (EEAP) aimed at assisting low- and moderate-income households in managing their energy costs. The two-year pilot program provides a fixed monthly bill discount for customers who do not qualify for the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) or Central Hudson's Energy Affordability Program (EAP).
Lauren Preston, Chief Customer Services Officer at Central Hudson, stated, "The Enhanced Energy Affordability Program is designed to provide meaningful relief and help customers manage their bills more effectively." The program targets households with an income at or below 100% of the State Median Income or Area Median Income. To qualify, applicants must be active Central Hudson customers with an electric or gas account and provide complete income documentation for all household members from the past month.
According to Central Hudson, customers can apply for EEAP online or by calling 877-400-2501. The program is separate from the EAP, which supports households receiving qualifying government assistance benefits.
Central Hudson encourages all eligible customers to apply and take advantage of the benefits offered by EEAP. The program is expected to provide significant financial relief to many families in the Kingston, New York area.
