The Cairo-Durham Central School District will soon be searching for a new superintendent as Michael Wetherbee, the current superintendent, announced his retirement effective at the end of June. Wetherbee has served in this position for seven years and is stepping down to allow ample time for a thorough search for his successor.

Wetherbee expressed pride in the accomplishments of both students and parents during his tenure. He emphasized the importance of announcing his retirement early to ensure a smooth transition and to provide the district with sufficient time to find a suitable replacement.

The search for a new superintendent will likely begin soon, with the goal of having a new leader in place before the start of the next academic year. Wetherbee's departure marks the end of a significant chapter for the Cairo-Durham Central School District, and the community will be looking forward to welcoming new leadership.
