The Empire State Winter Games Torch Relay is set to return to Saugerties on Tuesday (January 27) as it makes its way to the 2026 Empire State Winter Games in Lake Placid. The torch is expected to arrive at the Kiwanis Ice Arena on Small World Avenue around 4:30 p.m., with a parade beginning at 5 p.m. The parade will start at Bob Moser Drive, proceed through Washington Avenue, Main Street, and Market Street, before concluding at the Kiwanis Ice Arena.
The torch relay celebrates the communities that contribute to the Empire State Winter Games, bringing together neighbors, families, and athletes. The relay is supported by sponsors including Community Bank, N.A., Highmark Blue Shield of Northeastern New York, and others. At each stop, the torch will be accompanied by the Games’ mascot, Adirondack Mac, and past and present athletes, creating a festive atmosphere.
A ceremony will take place at 6:15 p.m. at the Kiwanis Ice Arena, featuring former Empire State Games athletes and local youth hockey teams, including the 10u Mustangs A & B teams and the 12u Mustangs & 14u Fillies teams. The Empire State Winter Games will officially begin on February 5 in Lake Placid, marking the start of a four-day multi-sport event and festival.
