As winter continues its grip on the region, the Columbia-Greene Humane Society (CGHS) in Hudson has issued an urgent call for blanket donations to help keep their animal residents warm during the remaining cold weeks.

The shelter is specifically requesting donations of blankets, sheets, and other linens that can provide essential warmth for the dogs and cats currently in their care. These items are crucial for animal comfort as temperatures remain low through February and into early March.

"Blankets and linens are always in high demand at our shelter, especially during the winter months," said a representative from the Columbia-Greene Humane Society, which serves both Columbia and Greene counties. "These donations directly improve the quality of life for our animals while they wait for their forever homes."

The shelter, located at 125 Humane Society Road in Hudson, accepts donations during their regular business hours: Monday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. For those unable to visit during these hours, items can also be left outside the facility.

CGHS is one of several animal welfare organizations in the region that regularly participates in community donation drives. Last fall, multiple libraries in Columbia and Greene counties, including the Catskill Public Library and Germantown Library, held collection drives for the humane society as part of The Great Give Back initiative, collecting pet food, toys, treats, and other essential supplies.

Community support remains vital for the shelter's operations. In addition to blankets and linens, the organization typically welcomes donations of pet food (both wet and dry), cat litter, cleaning supplies, and pet toys throughout the year.

Those interested in supporting the shelter can also consider adoption, as the facility houses numerous cats and dogs looking for permanent homes. The Columbia-Greene Humane Society has earned positive reviews from community members, with visitors noting the well-maintained facilities and knowledgeable staff.

For more information about donations or adoption opportunities, residents can contact the Columbia-Greene Humane Society directly or visit during their regular business hours.
