Poughkeepsie officials are considering moving the Town Hall from its current location at 1 Overocker Road to the Gilkeson Center on the Poughkeepsie Day School campus on Boardman Road. The plan, which is under discussion, would also see the town's police and courts facility remaining at the Overocker Road site.

According to the Poughkeepsie Journal, this proposal marks a change from earlier plans developed between 2020 and 2022. During that period, the Town of Poughkeepsie had considered purchasing the entire 35-acre campus of the non-profit independent school, relocating all municipal offices—including the court and police department—onto the school property.

The new plan focuses on moving only the town hall to the Gilkeson Center, while leaving the police and court facilities at their current address. Details about costs, timelines, and next steps are still being discussed by town officials.

Residents can expect updates as the plan develops and more information becomes available through public meetings and official communications from the Town of Poughkeepsie.
