The Town of Wappinger is taking steps to enhance pedestrian safety in the downtown historic district of the Village of Wappingers Falls. The Wappinger Town Board has approved a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application to fund these improvements.

Town Supervisor Joseph Cavaccini announced that the project, based on a recent New York State Department of Transportation traffic study, will include the installation and retrofitting of Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons at several crosswalks. Additionally, the project will see the construction of new crosswalks and the addition of gateway signage to improve visibility and safety for pedestrians.

These efforts are part of a broader initiative to ensure the safety and accessibility of the village's historic district, which is a popular area for both residents and visitors. The improvements aim to make crossing streets safer and more convenient, reducing the risk of accidents.
