The City of Poughkeepsie Police Department’s Neighborhood Recovery Unit conducted a drug raid at Geneva’s Blues House restaurant on Thursday morning (March 5) as part of an ongoing investigation into narcotics distribution. The restaurant owner, Carlos “Los” Wood, 55, was arrested at the scene and charged with felony criminal sale of a controlled substance.

The police action followed community complaints, prompting an investigation that led to the issuance of a search warrant. Detective Lt. Sean McCarthy stated that the search resulted in the seizure of narcotics and materials consistent with illegal drug sales. Wood, a four-time convicted felon, was arraigned in City of Poughkeepsie Court and is currently held at Dutchess County Jail without bail.

The restaurant's liquor license is held by City of Poughkeepsie Third Ward Councilwoman Terriciena Brown, although there is no indication of her involvement in the illegal activities. The raid has attracted attention due to Wood's criminal history and the establishment's community ties.

The investigation into the narcotics distribution network is ongoing, and further developments are expected as authorities continue to examine evidence gathered during the raid.
