Two Killed in Mamakating Crash

On Monday evening (March 9), a tragic car accident in the Town of Mamakating resulted in the deaths of two local men. The crash occurred around 7 p.m. near 482 Winterton Road when a 2022 Nissan, traveling northbound, failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle crossed into the southbound lane, exited the roadway, and struck a utility pole.

According to a preliminary investigation by the New York State Police, the driver, identified as 66-year-old Gary A. Burlew, and his passenger, 38-year-old Jeffrey Burlew, both from Bloomingburg, sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency responders from the Bloomingburg Fire Department and the Mamakating First Aid Squad assisted the state police at the crash site.
