The normally quiet Whinfield Street in Poughkeepsie became the center of attention on Thursday (March 12) when the Dutchess County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at a house on the street. The operation, conducted around 11 a.m., involved the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office Emergency Services Unit (SWAT) and the Poughkeepsie SWAT units.
According to Mid-Hudson News, the task force acted on complaints from neighbors about illegal drug sales at the address. Detective Sergeant Adam Harris, the Drug Task Force Coordinator, confirmed that a suspect was arrested in connection with the sale of dangerous narcotics in the area. He mentioned that more information would be shared soon.
This raid is part of a larger effort by the Dutchess County Drug Task Force to combat drug-related activities in the region. Earlier, the task force conducted a similar operation at the Rip Van Winkle high-rise apartment complex, leading to the arrest of two individuals on drugs and weapons charges. The task force, in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, seized narcotics, packaging materials, scales, and an assault rifle during the raid.
Authorities continue to urge residents with information about drug activities to contact the Drug Task Force confidential tip line at 845-463-6040 or email Drugtaskforcetips@gmail.com.
