The Columbia Greene Humane Society in Hudson is calling on community members to volunteer and help care for animals in need. The shelter is seeking people interested in a variety of roles, including dog walkers, members of the canine enrichment and socialization team, and helpers for laundry services, cleaning, filing, and organizing.
The shelter, located about 45 minutes south of Albany, relies on volunteers to support its day-to-day operations and animal care. According to the Columbia-Greene Humane Society/SPCA, it does not receive funding from federal, state, or county sources, making community involvement essential to its mission.
The organization is dedicated to the humane treatment and well-being of all animals, emphasizing outreach, education, and cruelty prevention. The shelter also provides compassionate, high-quality medical care and runs programs like a pet food bank for families experiencing financial hardship.
Anyone interested in volunteering can contact the shelter during regular business hours by calling (518) 828-6044 or emailing jessica@cghs.org. More information about roles and requirements can be found on the Columbia-Greene Humane Society/SPCA website. The shelter continues to encourage support from the local community to help animals find safe, loving homes.
