A 14-year-old boy who was reported missing in a heavily wooded area off the East Forest Trail in Holmes, New York, was found safe and unharmed after an extensive search late Thursday night. The youth, described by police as “vulnerable,” disappeared around 8 p.m. while wearing only a t-shirt and sweatpants, raising concerns due to the chilly weather and challenging terrain.

According to Mid Hudson News, the search began shortly after the teen was last seen near the Putnam-Dutchess County line. Multiple agencies, including the Town of Kent and East Fishkill Police Departments, the Putnam and Dutchess County Sheriff’s Offices, New York State Police, and New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Forest Rangers, as well as several local fire departments, worked together to locate the missing teen.

The coordinated effort led to the teen being found safely after midnight, several hours after he had disappeared. Emergency responders checked him at the scene, and he was returned to his family without any reported injuries.

The successful recovery highlights the importance of quick action and cooperation among law enforcement, first responders, and the community when a vulnerable youth goes missing. As reported by National Today, the incident left the local community relieved and demonstrated the effectiveness of coordinated search operations for missing persons. The East Fishkill Police Department expressed gratitude for the support from all agencies involved in the search.

No criminal activity is suspected, and no further updates have been announced by authorities at this time.
