The University at Albany and Columbia-Greene Community College are launching a new dual admission agreement, giving students in Hudson, New York, a clearer path from an associate degree to a bachelor’s degree. The formal signing ceremony takes place Tuesday (March 24) at Columbia-Greene’s campus, with both school presidents—Havidán Rodríguez from UAlbany and Victoria Walsh from Columbia-Greene—attending, as reported by NEWS10 ABC.
Under the agreement, students can apply for admission to both institutions when they first enroll at Columbia-Greene or during their first semester. After graduating with an associate degree, students will be able to transfer into a related bachelor’s program at UAlbany with junior-year standing, according to WNYT.
Columbia-Greene Community College currently offers more than 36 academic programs, including business, education, health care, and automotive technology. The University at Albany features over 50 undergraduate majors, allowing students to continue their studies in a wide range of fields.
During the signing event, the two institutions will also finalize a transfer articulation agreement specifically for nursing students, making it easier for those in nursing to advance their education at UAlbany. Interviews and further details will be available after the ceremony at the Student Success Center, as noted by UAlbany’s news center.
This partnership aims to streamline the process for local students to complete a four-year degree and could influence future agreements between colleges and universities in the region. Moving forward, both schools expect to see increased enrollment and smoother student transfers as a result of this collaboration.
