Authorities executed a major raid at M&M Convenience and Tobacco in Wappinger on Saturday (March 21), leading to what officials say is the largest seizure of illegal vape products in Dutchess County history. The operation follows months of investigation by the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office after community members reported suspicious activity at the shop, including the alleged sale of drugs and alcohol to minors, starting in late 2025.

During the raid, law enforcement officials confiscated a significant amount of contraband, including vape products, THC-infused items, untaxed cigarettes, psychedelic mushrooms, and hard liquor. The shop, located at 1831 New Hackensack Road (Route 376), did not have the required licenses to sell alcohol or cannabis products. According to the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, the volume of vape products seized is believed to set a county record and could result in substantial fines and penalties. The suspect’s two vehicles were also impounded as part of the investigation.

The suspect, Mohammed Alyasjeen, 27, of Poughkeepsie, was arrested at the scene and charged with multiple crimes, including third- and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, both felonies. Additional misdemeanor charges include endangering the welfare of a child, first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child, sale of alcoholic beverages to a minor, unlicensed sale of alcohol, keeping alcohol without a permit, and selling untaxed cigarettes, as detailed by the sheriff’s office and reported by the Poughkeepsie Journal.

After being taken into custody, Alyasjeen was processed and arraigned in the Town of LaGrange Court, then released under supervision by the Dutchess County Probation Department. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Wappinger Court on Wednesday, April 8, at 5 p.m. Authorities say the investigation is ongoing and that more charges may follow, according to Mid Hudson News and a report from MSN.

Officials from the New York State Office of Cannabis Management and the Dutchess County Health Department participated in the search, while the New York State Liquor Authority was notified of the findings. The store remains closed as the case proceeds.
