The Dutchess County Drug Task Force carried out another raid in Poughkeepsie on Wednesday (March 25), continuing a series of recent law enforcement actions targeting alleged drug activity in the area. Officers executed a search warrant at a residence on Winnikee Avenue near Cottage Street around 5 p.m., responding to ongoing neighborhood complaints about suspected illegal drug activity, according to Mid-Hudson News.

Detective Sergeant Adam Harris, coordinator of the task force, told the outlet that the investigation was prompted by concerns raised by local residents. He added that more details about the raid will be released as the investigation continues.

This latest operation follows a similar raid earlier this month at Geneva’s Blues House restaurant on Hooker Avenue. In that case, Carlos “Los” Wood, 55, was arrested and charged with felony criminal sale of a controlled substance. Police said they found narcotics and materials consistent with drug sales after receiving community tips, as reported by Mid-Hudson News.

Terriciena Brown, Third Ward City Alderwoman and the owner of Geneva’s Blues House, expressed disappointment about the incident. She stated, “I am deeply disappointed by the allegations, and I am deeply hurt.” Brown said she was unaware of any illegal activity and pledged to cooperate with authorities. She emphasized her commitment to improving life in Poughkeepsie, saying, “The selling and distribution of illegal drugs has no business here in the City of Poughkeepsie or anywhere else in our communities and those that do such activities must be held accountable,” as noted by Mid-Hudson News.

Officials say the Dutchess County Drug Task Force will continue its efforts to address drug-related complaints across Poughkeepsie. Additional information on recent raids and potential charges is expected in the coming days.
