A barn fire that broke out at 212 Geiger Road in Ellenville on Sunday (March 29) quickly spread to nearby brush, prompting a large emergency response from local fire departments. Firefighters were called to the scene around 2 p.m. and found both the barn and surrounding brush engulfed in flames, according to Mid Hudson News.

Multiple area fire departments responded under mutual aid agreements to help provide extra water and manpower as crews worked to contain the fire. The quick spread of the flames required both structure and brush firefighting tactics.

There were no injuries reported as a result of the blaze, but the cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Officials have not provided further details about how the fire started or whether any animals were involved.

Firefighters remained on site for several hours to ensure the flames were fully extinguished and to prevent any further spread. The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing. Local residents are encouraged to stay alert for updates from emergency services.
