The C.A.R.E.S. van, organized by Congressman Pat Ryan, is making several stops throughout the Mid-Hudson Valley this April, offering in-person help with federal agencies like the IRS and Department of Veterans Affairs. According to the Daily Freeman, the Constituent Advocacy Resources Empowerment Services (C.A.R.E.S.) van will begin its local tour on Tuesday (April 7) at the Dutchess County Office for Aging’s Pancakes in the Park event in Rhinebeck from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., followed by a visit to Hyde Park Town Hall that afternoon from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The van's staff consists of trained caseworkers who assist residents of the 18th Congressional District with a broad range of federal issues. These include Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, veterans’ services, student loans, federal grants, tax filings, passports, immigration services, and more. The van will also make stops at Gardiner Town Hall on Wednesday (April 15) from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and at New Paltz Village Hall the same day from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., as detailed on LegiStorm.

In addition to these stops, the C.A.R.E.S. van will visit locations in Otisville, Middletown, Beacon, and Fishkill later in April. Congressman Ryan’s office emphasized that the van has become a regular feature at community events since June 2023, helping those impacted by federal program changes and health care uncertainty.

For the Rhinebeck event, space is limited and advance registration is recommended by calling the Dutchess County Office for the Aging at 845-486-2555.

The van’s outreach continues as part of Congressman Ryan’s efforts to connect Hudson Valley residents with crucial federal resources and support. More information about additional stops and available services can be found through official press releases on LegiStorm.
