In Poughkeepsie, a man was arrested on Monday morning (April 6) for allegedly attempting to break into a home on Arnold Road. The homeowner, an off-duty police officer, confronted the suspect, leading to a brief foot chase. The man was taken into custody by City of Poughkeepsie police and later arraigned in City Court. He was released pending a future court date under New York’s bail reform laws.
Later that night, around 11 p.m., police responded to a reported stabbing at the intersection of Wilbur Boulevard and Hooker Avenue. According to police, a woman at the scene said she confronted a man attempting to break into her vehicle. During the altercation, the man was stabbed. Authorities later confirmed that the victim was the same individual arrested earlier that day.
The man was transported to a local hospital for treatment, though his condition remains unknown. The incidents highlight ongoing concerns about crime and safety in the area.
