The Federal Bureau of Investigation executed a search warrant during a pre-dawn raid on the Alexandria, Virginia home of former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort. The raid took place on July 26th, just one day after Manafort had met with the Senate Intelligence Committee.

According to reports, the raid was carried out by FBI agents working with special counsel Robert Mueller. The agents reportedly left the Manafort home with various records.

Jason Maloni, a spokesman for Mr. Manafort, confirmed that FBI agents had indeed executed a search warrant at the former campaign chairman’s home.

“Mr. Manafort has consistently cooperated with law enforcement and other serious inquiries and did so on this occasion as well,” said Maloni, the spokesman for Manafort.

The move has some wondering if special counsel Mueller may be expanding his investigation outside of the confines of the “Russia collusion” mandate. The FBI’s move is aggressive considering its previous use of kid-gloves in some previous investigations.
